Cate, interesting post, but I disagree with your premise based on my personal experience, let alone experiences of other people I have heard or read about. I have manifested things including money I needed literally out of the thin air via the impossible channels and avenues, exactly when I needed it. Those manifestations were on the verge of a miracle, having no possible logical explanation or even connection whatsoever, other than my intention. I’ve got so many examples of manifesting what I want that I could write a book.

I also disagree with your statement that the influence of human thought on the material world hasn’t been conclusively proven by science. I can’t quote the specific resources here, but in the tonnes of material on this subject matter I have seen, I am convinced that this has been done. However, my view on this has a cheeky twist:

Even if I don’t understand exactly how the electric current works and how it moves things I want to move, but I can see that it does move them for me – will I use electricity to get the outcome I want? The heck I will! :-) So whether there is a conclusive scientific proof or not – I don’t really care.

Moreover, the key characteristic of quantum reality is that it is unpredictable. That’s why sometimes things work other times they don’t. That’s why some scientific studies and experiments may remain inconclusive.

Manifestation - if we define it as affecting the quantum field with our intention (a specific thought charged with emotion) – absolutely does work. Each and every time without fail.

But there is a caveat people don’t know or forgot about – in fact, two caveats: (1) we constantly manifest things not only intentionally but also unintentionally, even subconsciously. So in your example – an illness, a car accident, dog running away and every other unfortunate event – are the situations we have absolutely manifested at some level. Several years ago, after watching a courtroom drama, I had a fleeting thought: “gosh, I hope I won’t be called for Jury Duty, I’m just too busy”. Guess what letter arrived in my letterbox two weeks later – JURY DUTY!!

I know, this is a very controversial concept – but hey, successful healing with secret potions and incantations was controversial in the XVc, and witches were burnt at the stake. Now that’s part and parcel of energy healing with herbs, crystals and sound.

The second caveat (2) is what you have actually alluded to in your post. There is more to the manifestation process than meets the eye – hidden forces we are normally unaware of. Can we find out what they are and work with them? Yes we can, by connecting with the Spirit in meditation or shamanic practice – but even then the Spirit will reveal to us only what’s in our highest interest to know.

Back to square one? Sort of. :-)

Well .. you've done a "spoiler" for Part 2 Anna! You say, "There is more to the manifestation process than meets the eye – hidden forces we are normally unaware of. Can we find out what they are and work with them?" Which is exactly the point I'm trying to make here!

I never said manifestation doesn't work ... my issue is the narrow belief that the MIND is all powerful and the main ingredient in manifestation. (IE. The highly patriarchal view that the MIND is supreme) Haven't we had enough of that bias?

In this case, I agree. Mind - that is, our mind, not the Universal MIND as some people like to differentiate it - is only one ingredient in the manifestation process; the IGNITION that starts it. But of course, many things can happen between the ignition starting the engine and the car moving in the direction we want!

in fact, I'm just writing a new post on my recent and quite startling insight into the nature of our destiny-blueprint -program (beyond karma and free will), which points to interference by bad actors. The more I reflect on it, the more it rings true, as scary as it is.

Cate, I just listened to a New Dimensions podcast of Dean Radin, whom you may know about as the lead scientist at the Institute of Noetic Science. The podcast is free streaming until June 18. Dean tells a mind blowing story of synchronicity that’s about halfway through the hour. I urge you to give it a listen to, because Dean and someone else whom he didn’t know, both created out of infinite possibility, what each was seeking. The goosebumps are for me, always an indicator of the truth of mystery or the mystery of truth. Here it is. https://newdimensions.org/a-scientific-approach-to-magic-with-dean-radin-ph-d/

Thanks Karen. I've talked with Dean a lot over the years. He's one of those hard-working credible scientists dedicating his life trying to figure this all out! Yes ... it's not that amazing manifestation/synchronicities don't happen ... they do! It's the mechanics that are still unclear—and why the "hit or miss" issue. Why some things manifest and (many) other things do not. I'll get into that next time. Thanks for the link!

A competitive dinner party brag session about who manifested what? Sounds genuinely hellish. Ick.
